Letters is built around the people who open it. A story in every box, letters between embers, a room full of you every three months.
Each box carries one real, inspirational story from a member: something they lived through, learnt or overcame. Send yours in. We only print a story with the writer’s permission, under the name they choose.
We all have a story. Yours might be the one someone needs to read.
Our founding members get access to the Letters pen pal service. We pair you with another member and you write to each other by hand, under a pen name. Letters go through us, so your real name and address are never shared. It’s optional, and you can stop any time.

Four times a year we gather in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. Creativity is better in company: an evening of making something with your hands, next to the people at the other end of the letters.

Cancel any time
From your account page or at cancellations@poeticwax.co.za. No fees, no minimum term. To skip, pause or cancel before the next payment, do it by 23:59 on the 20th.

7-day cooling-off
Cancel within 7 days of receiving any box, send it back, and get a full refund. You only pay the return courier.

No, the surprise is part of it. If a month isn’t for you, skip it by the 20th, or return the box within 7 days of receiving it.
Subscribe by 23:59 on the 25th and it ships between the 1st and 7th of the next month. After the 25th, it ships the month after that. Your welcome email gives the exact date.
Use the Cancel button on your account page, or email cancellations@poeticwax.co.za. Cancel by the 20th and you won’t be charged again. After the 20th that month’s box is already being made, so it’s charged and sent.
Yes. Tell us when you sign up, and update it any time. We check each month’s scent against what you’ve told us, and if it isn’t right for you we curate a different fragrance for your box.
Founding members can opt in. We pair you with another member, you each choose a pen name, and your letters are sent through us. Neither of you sees the other’s real name or address.
Every three months we host an evening in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban: making, sharing and meeting other members. Members hear first, and founding members get up to 50% off.
